Podcasts Currently Blowing My Mind
Two episodes that imagine profound healing for many, many more people
If you’ve listened to Episode 10 of Ketamine Insights (Psychedelic Conferences: “Nothing About Us Without Us!”), you know that I’ve got some criticisms of the psychedelic scene at the moment.
So does Ayize Jama-Everett, one of the creators of the documentary A Table of our Own. He’s also an experienced therapist with an MFA and a masters of divinity. I could not stop nodding as I listened to his recent interview on the Psychedelics Today podcast. He talks about the documentary, which covers “the current state of Black people in the psychedelic space.” He also discusses the value and prevalence of plant medicines in cultures around the world, the importance of spiritual leaders in the psychedelic space, and so so so much more. Listening, I felt like the psychedelic space he believes in has room for disabled people like me and centers the types of people I want to learn from and heal with. Brilliant.
Second, I almost cried listening to the MAPS podcast episode, “Chronic Pain and Psychedelics”. Court Wing talks about what we already know about pain relief and psychedelics, and paints a picture of what future treatment regimens could look like. A LOT of us who suffer from mental illness also experience chronic pain, so this interview is also a must listen :-)
